Welcome to Second Grade at Trinity Lutheran School

What will your child experience in our classroom?

In the second grade classroom at Trinity Lutheran School children will grow, as recorded in Luke 2:52, the way Jesus did, "in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men".  This is our number one priority.

In addition, we adhere to the highest academic standard, applying the IN Academic Standards and Common Core Standards with love and understanding, high expectation and support for each child.  Each child is treated with respect and is taught to treat others with respect as well.

The classroom atmosphere includes invitation, investment, affirmation, persistence, purpose, challenge, opportunity, reflection, and humor for each child and each child has a learning experience with his or her ability, learning style, and interests in mind.

Parents are regularly communicated with and welcome to visit.

To God be the Glory!

My name is Karol Ketcher.  I've been the second grade teacher and Music Director at Trinity Lutheran Church and School for 26 years.  I have four daughters, married and scattered around the country, and nine grandchildren.

My undergraduate work was done at Concordia College, Milwaukee (Associate of Arts Degree), University of Wisconsin (Bachelor of Music Education Degree), Valparaiso University (Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education), and graduate work at Indiana University Northwest (Master of Science in Education).

In addition to core subjects, students are regularly involved in an extensive music and art curriculum in this classroom.  We also spend time writing fiction, non-fiction, and poetry.  Above all we learn to love and follow Jesus Christ, the Author and Perfecter of our faith!

Mission Statement

Together we hear, know, and feed upon Jesus Christ, God's Living Word, growing in Him and sharing Him to the glory of God.
